Statistical Observation on Patients with Pediatric Urological Disease

Abstract
A statistical observation was made on 214 cases with pediatric urological disease in korean children who had been admitted to Department of Urology. Presbyterian Medical Center, Taegu, Korea, during the period from August 1, 1970 through July 31, 1977.
1. Among 1,711 cases of in-patients for the past 7 years, 214 cases belong to pediatric urologic patients giving 12.5%.

2. The proportion of male to female pediatric in-patients was 8.9 : 1.

3. School children (6 to 12 years of age) were most frequently seen giving the ratio of 51.8 %.

4. The most common diseases were anomaly (57. 7%), injury (16.9%) and infection (10 %) in order.

5. The most frequently involved organ was scrotal contents (26.9%), kidney disease (20.3 %) penile disease (19. 6%) and urethral disease (18.5%) in order.

6. Of 214 cases, operation was performed in 174 cases (81. 3%).

7. The most common operation was hydrocelectomy (19. 5%), orchiopexy (15. 5%), urethroplasty (13. 8%), chordectomy (10. 9%) and nephrectomy (7.5%) in order.
